Rich in musical artifacts from the mid 1800’s to the early decades of the 20th century, the Butthole County Historical Society protects and preserves music related items of note. The most famous and noteworthy of which is, of course, The Incident Tuba from the notorious Tuba Incident.
Located at the beating heart of Butthole, within the Butthole County Fairgrounds is the Greasy Skillet Jazz Club: the cloister for the tuba as the centerpiece of the collection, and the site of the very incident itself. The Greasy Skillet has become the HQ of the Historical Society, and still holds raucous live music events to this day. Some folks see it as a pilgrimage site, travelling long distances to pay homage to the tuba that changed Uncle Rudy’s Iconic Smile forever.
