Lyrics:

Oh it rained all night the day they launched that rocket to the moon
in that ol’ Summer of Sixty Nine, now boys ya come back soon
they say their eagle landed high upon that moon afar
but we’re just down here blinded by the twinkling of a star

Chorus:

Oh Dear NASA! well don’t you tax me please!
from the lies they told For all i know
the moon’s still made of cheese!

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin and some other Collins guy
strapped into that rocket for a journey to the sky
they packed ’em in that can so tight they couldn’t even twitch
It’ll get so hot you’ll freeze to death, re-entry is a bitch

(chorus)

well the hull was made of tin foil, and the frame was made of sticks
just don’t ask about the price, the bill would make ya sick
they said their eagle landed on the TV for to see
but we’re just cattle branded by a gubmint agency

(chorus)

Neil Armstrong was a-kneeling, while Buzz was all a-buzz
and that other Collins guy or something listening to the fuzz
though he was the commander, yet sacrificed the fame
he never stepped upon the moon and we forgot his name

(chorus)

with one small step they sauntered down, much to their relief
a giant leap for all mankind suspending disbelief
they jumped and danced for photographs, according to the plot
but they left behind the camera man who took those famous shots

(chorus)

well they pinned Old Glory to the moon to spite those commie reds
they said it was a cold war but we all might end up dead
so we whipped out our big rocket just to make those Russians seethe
and our flag’s still up there flapping in that dusty lunar breeze

(chorus)

oh when those boys returned back home, the weather it was fine
but the look upon their faces said they had a real bad time
they did their little interviews, but ended them too soon
and don’t you think you’d smile a bit after flying to the moon?

(chorus 2x)
